Men's and women's cross country both fourth at Region I meet

  GOODYEAR, AZ - Both the Mesa men's and women's cross country teams placed fourth at the Region I championships held Monday at Linear Park.

  The MCC women were led by Karlie Kjerstad (So., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) who was eighth over the 5k course in 19:57.2. Vicky Taverna (So., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) was 11th with a time of 20:27.0 and Alejandra Nava (So., Mesa, AZ/Tempe H.S.) took 20th place with a 21:32.8 clocking.

  For the men, Chris Lessard (So., Maricopa, AZ/Maricopa H.S.) finished sixth with a time of 26:32.5 for the 8k course. Blake Fisher was 13th, timed in 27:04.6 and Vance Johnson (So., Queen Creek, AZ/Queen Creek H.S.) was 17th in 27:20.9.
