Bounce Back Victory for #16 Mesa Over South Mountain Friday Night

Mesa, AZ - The #16 Mesa Thunderbirds volleyball team had a nice bounce back victory Friday night over the South Mountain Cougars in three sets, 25-13, 27-25, and 25-16.
The T-Birds looked completely different from the team that showed up to Scottsdale on Wednesday night, mainly in the confidence they performaned with.
Mesa took set one with ease, 25-13, as they jumped out quickly on the Cougars. Set two saw a more competitive sequence between each team but things became a little whonky near the end of the set. As Mesa held a 23-17 advantage, South Mountain rallied off eight of the next nine points, over taking the lead at 25-24. After a Mesa timeout, the T-Birds rallied off three straight points to take a 2-0 set lead.
In set three, each team exchanged leads and ties till the 12 point mark. Mesa then pushed ahead, going up 20-15 and solidifying the victory 25-16.
For Mesa, they are now 7-3 on the season with a 3-1 conference record. The T-Birds will play home twice next week, first on Tuesday night vs Ottawa JV at 6 pm, then on Thursday night at 7 pm vs Phoenix College.
