#16 Mesa Volleyball Wins All Four Matches at Scottsdale Tournament
Scottsdale, AZ - What a weekend it was for the #16 Mesa Thunderbirds volleyball team as they won all four matches they played at the Scottsdale Tournament both Friday and Saturday.
Friday saw the T-Birds beat the Arizona Western Matadors in five sets, 29-27, 17-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9, in their first match in the morning. Later that afternoon, Mesa defeated Victoria College in four sets, 25-14, 25-18, 26-28, 25-20.
On Saturday, the T-Birds handled the Benedictine University of Mesa JV team with ease, a 3-0 win, 25-19, 25-17, 25-8. In the final match, the T-Birds defeated the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes in a five set thriller, 25-18, 24-26, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8.
With the four victories, Mesa improves its record to 8-2 overall. Though the T-Birds played two conference opponents, all the matches are counted as non-conference wins. Mesa will play at home this coming Wednesday night against the Ottawa University JV team then they will travel to South Mountain for a Friday matchup, both matches beginning at 7 pm.
