Volleyball falls just short in loss to Phoenix, 3-2

  PHOENIX, AZ - It was as close as the young Mesa volleyball team has come to a victory, but in the end the T-Birds dropped a 3-2 decision at Phoenix Friday night.

  MCC actually had two match points, leading 14-12 in the fifth set, but finally fell, 16-14. The set scores were 16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 17-25, 14-16.

  Tia Kanappel (so., Fountain Hills, AZ/Fountain Hills H.S.) had 12 kills and 13 digs. Hannah Marang (So., Yakima, Wash/West Valley H.S.) added ten kills. Taylor Ka'alele (So. Maimanolo, HI/Henry J. Kaiser H.S.) contributed 24 digs and Mariah Buchanan (Fr., Victorville, Calif/Poston Butte (AZ) H.S. added 30 assists.

  The T-Birds will host Yavapai Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Theo Heap Gym.
