Women's tennis finishes play at NJCAA nationals with consolation losses
Tyler, Texas – Mesa's participation at the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship came to an end Tuesday with losses in the consolation round.
Cindy Anders actually made it to the consolation semi-finals before falling. Sher got a bye in the second round and then won her quarter-final match with Molly Lennon, of Iowa Central, 6-2. She then lost to Gwendolen Sior, of Barton, 1-6, in the semi-finals. Sior went on to win the bracket.
In doubles, Mesa's Ana Villalvazo and Sabrina Sanchez got a second-round bye but then fell to Megan Bankston and Margaita Lopereva, of Mississippi Gulf Coast, 5-7.
The tournament winds up Friday.
