No. 15 women's tennis takes two ACCAC wins

  Mesa, AZ – The Mesa women's tennis team, ranked No. 15 in the nation, has won two of its last three matches.

  MCC fell to four-year Arizona Christian, 5-4, before winning ACCAC matches over Pima, 8-1, and Eastern Arizona, 9-0.

  Three T-Birds won singles matches in all three contests.

  Ana Villalvazo took a 6-0, 6-2 win over ACU, won 6-1, 6-0 against Pima and 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the EAC contest. All were at No. 1 singles.

  At No. 2, Sabrina Sanchez was a 6-0, WD winner against the Firestorm, 6-0, 6-0, vs. Pima and 6-3, 6-0 in the EAC contest.

  In addition, Brooke MacLay scored a 6-2, 2-0, retired decision against Arizona Christian, won 6-0, 6-0 in the Pima match and 6-0, 6-1 against Eastern Arizona.

  This week the T-Birds head to California after a make-up match against Paradise Valley which will be played Tuesday at the MCC courts at 1:30.

  Then they will visit UC-Irvine Friday as well as Irvine Valley.
