Tennis Falls to DI New Mexico State

Las Cruces, N.M. – It was a pretty tough way for the Mesa tennis teams to kick off their seasons, but head coach Adam Cohen was pleased overall as the T-Bird men and women each lost to NCAA Division I New Mexico State Friday.

"Both our teams played very well," said Cohen. "They were just much better."

On the women's side, No. 5 singles player Michelle Fournier had the closest match, falling 6-4, 6-4 to Elizabeth Geronimo.

For the men, Aggies' singles players were able to score 6-0 victories in only two of the 12 contested games and MCC's No. 2 doubles team of David Felix and Andres Loiaza stretched its opponent to 7-6 before falling.

Both teams will face NCAA Division II Western New Mexico Saturday in Las Cruces.
