Women's tennis squeezes past New Mexico Military, 5-4

  MESA, AZ - The Mesa women's tennis team won for the third time in its last four matches, taking down New Mexico Military, 5-4, Friday.

  Desiree Curiel (So. Globe-Miami, AZ/Miami H.S.) got a big win at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Amanda Hawkins.

  Also, she teamed with Michelle Fournier (Fr., Chicago, Ill/Saguaro (AZ) H.S.) to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-3. MCC's other points came on defaults.

  The T-Birds return to action Monday, entertaining Southwest Minnesota State, an NCAA Division II program, at 2:00 p.m.
