Thrilling finish as women's tennis knocks off No. 9 Eastern Arizona, 5-4

THATCHER, AZ - Sheridan Skarda (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain H.S.) rallied from down a set to win the No. 3 singles match and break a 4-4 tie to lift the Mesa women's tennis team to victory over ninth-ranked Eastern Arizona Thursday.

With the match tied at 4-4, and No. 3 singles the only one still on the court, Skarda defeated Cassidy McWhorter, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, to secure the victory.

Also winning at singles for MCC were Desiree Curiel (So., Globe-Miami, AZ/Miami H.S.) at No. 4 and No. 6 Sydney Madsen (So., Orem, Utah/Perry (AZ) H.S.).

The doubles teams of Curiel and Michelle Fournier (Fr., Chicago, Ill/Saguaro (AZ) H.S.) at No. 2 and Skarda and Madesen at No. 3 also won for Mesa.
