Two Jenny Montelongo Goals Pace Mesa Over Gateway, 4-1

Jenny Montelongo knocked in two goals for the Mesa Thunderbirds women's soccer team Tuesday night to help defeat the Gateway Geckos, 4-1.

Montelongo scored the first and last goals for Mesa, while Emily Lynch and Destiny Cross scored the goals in between.

The T-Birds were relentless on the offensive side of the ball as they attempted 23 shots on goal compared to just seven for the Geckos.

It was 1-1 going into halftime but Mesa came out again in the second half in attack mode.  They were able to draw a penalty in the box which allowed for Lynch to connect on a penalty kick.

The T-Birds will be back in action next Tuesday night at John D. Riggs Stadium as they host the Scottsdale Artichokes, kick off at 7 p.m.
