Moore scores two as women's soccer blanks GateWay, 4-0

  PHOENIX, AZ - Building a 3-0 halftime lead, the Mesa women's soccer team scored a 4-0 win over GateWay Tuesday at the Rose Mofford Complex.

  Monique Moore, pictured right, (So., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) wasted little time in helping the T-Birds take control by scoring in the first minute unassisted.

   Just eight minutes later Tawsi Rohner (Fr., Gilbett, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) made it 2-0 with help from Jordan Drake (So., Grand Junction, Colo/Grand Junction H.S.).

  Mackenzie Mabery (So., Cottonwood, AZ/Mingus Union H.S.) accounted for the 3-0 halftime margin with an unassisted goal in the 40th minute.

  Moore then bookended the game with her second goal of the contest in the 81st minute as Amanda Bloomfield (So., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) contributed the assist. 

  Danielle Torres (So.,, Yuma, AZ/Kofa H.S.) recorded another shutout, making two saves as MCC out-shot the Geckos, 13-2.

  Mesa travels to Scottsdale Thursday for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
