Kapanicas medalist as women's golf takes Estrella Mountain Inv.
Goodyear, AZ – Led by Haley Kapanicas, who took medalist honors for the second tournament in a row, the women's golf team won its 79th straight ACCAC tournament with a 44-shot victory at the Estrella Mountain Invitational Tuesday. The tournament was held at the Tres Rios G.C.
Kapanicas shot a 76-80—156 to win individual honors by two shots. As a team MCC carded a 331-334-665 to out-pace Chandler-Gilbert which had a 352-357—609. South Mountain was third at 353-357—710.
Megan Fusak placed fourth after shooting an 84-80—164, while Hannah Brown was seventh with an 83-88—171. Cheyanne Stewart rounded out Mesa's finishes in the top ten by grabbing ninth place at 88-86—174.
The T-Birds take a break until March 19 when they return at the Pima Invitationals at The Views G.C. in Tucson.
