Women's golf takes 52-shot win at Estrella Mountain Invitational

Tournament results:

  Goodyear, AZ – The Mesa women's golf team nearly doubled its first round lead en route to a 52-shot victory in the Estrella Mountain Invitational Tuesday. The tournament was held at the Tres Rios G.C.

  The T-Birds finished 349-352—701 to easily defeat Chandler-Gilbert which carded a 376-377—753.

  Haley Kapanicas took second place for MCC with an 83-81—164, while Megan Fusak was third at 84-86—170.

  Cheyanne Stewart climbed into a tie for seventh place with a 91-89—180 total and Madison Tjaden was ninth shooting a 91-96—187.

Mesa's next event will be the primarily four-year school Red Rocks Invitational at the Oak Creek C.C. in Sedona, AZ, Saturday and Sunday.
