Women's Golf Wins Estrella Mountain Invitational After Being Behind On Day 1

LAVEEN, AZ – Rallying from a first round deficit for the first time in years, the Mesa women's golf team came from behind in the second round to win the Estrella Mountain Invitational at the Aguila G.C. Sunday and Monday.  

The T-Birds shot a second round 319 to fashion a 330-319—649 and edged Pima by ten shots.  

The Aztecs carded a 325-334—659. They had led by five after the first 18 holes. South Mountain was third at 330-335—665.  

Jill Harvison placed second individually with a 79-77—156. Samantha Hernandez tied for fifth with teammate Brianna Medrano. Hernandez finished with an 81-82—163 and Medrano closed strong 85-78—163. Savannah Cooper was seventh at 85-82—167.  

MCC moves right into the Chandler-Gilbert Invitational Tuesday and Wednesday at the Toka Sticks G.C. in Mesa.
