Women's golf takes third at NJCAA chamionship; three named All-Americans

  MESA, AZ - The Mesa women's golf team took third place at the NJCAA national championship Thursday, its best finish ince 2002.

  The T-Birds were third all four rounds.

  MCC had three players earn All-American honors. Chartta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) and Sierra Myerscough (So., Chicago, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) both earned second team honors and Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) was honorable mention.

   Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) finished with her best round of the tournament, a 75, and was tied for seventh individually with a 309 total.

  Myerscough (So., Chicago, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) placed 12th. She closed with a 78 for a 314 total. 

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) tied for 17th with an 82 Thursday and a 72-hole total of 320.

  Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) tied for 25th individually, finishing with an 86 for a 328 total.

  Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) carded an 85 for a tournament total of 337 for 39th place.
