Zyan Smith, Jacey Salabiye, Raenesha Willis Highlight Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams
With the regular season over and post-season in sight, the Region I and ACCAC conference have released its 2019-2020 All-Conference Teams for women's basketball.
Representing the Mesa Thunderbirds this year was Zyan Smith, Jacey Salabiye and Raenesha Willis.
Zyan Smith - Freshman Zyan Smith came in immediatley and made a great impact in the Thunderbirds lineup. Starting 25 of 28 games, Smith averaged 13.7 points per game while shooting 69.9 percent from the field. She averaged 8.1 rebounds per game and dished out 2.3 assists a game. Eight times during the 2019-2020 campaign she recorded a double-double in points and rebounds while 23 times scoring in double-digits. For her efforts, she earned 1st Team Region I - DII and 1st Team ACCAC Team.
Jacey Salabiye - Sophomore Jacey Salabiye continued her steady and consinstent play from her freshman, starting 25 of 28 games she played in. Averaging 10.5 points per game, Salabiye was not only a threat with her jump shot, but her excellent post-skills made her difficult to defend under the basket. She shot 62.1 percent from the field, connecting on 32.6 percent of her three-point attemts. 18 times during the 2019-2020 season did Salabiye score in double-digits. Salabiye earned 2nd Team All Region I - DII and All-ACCAC 3rd Team.
Raenesha Willis - Sophomore Raenesha Willis is Mesa's continued leader on the court. Starting 25 of 27 games for Mesa, Willis ability to control the game help the T-Birds take the top spot for the Region I tournament. Averaging 4.8 points per game, Willis also averaged five rebounds a game. For her performance during the 2019-2020, Willis earned All-Region I - DII 2nd Team.
