2nd Half Explosion Helps Mesa Defeat Artichokes, 75-62

Mesa, AZ - In January, games don't normally get labeled "must win".  For the Mesa Thunderbirds, this was a must win as they were in danger of moving to 3-6 in conference play.  The T-Birds did get that win Saturday night as they defeated the Scottsdale Artichokes, 75-62.

Dealing with injury during the holiday break but showing no signs anymore, Diamond Fuller returned to her dominate form, owning the paint while scoring 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds.  Four Thunderbirds on the night combined for double-figures as Cheyenne Begay and Jacey Salabiye score 13 points while Raenesha Willis scored 11.

The T-Birds battled back from a nine point deficit to begin the fourth quarter and combined to outscore the Artichokes, 49-27 in the second half, to win this important conference matchup.

Mesa moves to 7-10 overall with a 4-5 conference record.  The T-Birds will face the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes next Wednesday night at home at 5:30 pm.
