#5 Lady T-Birds Take 4th Place Finish at NJCAA National Tournament

Harrison, AR - The #5 Mesa Thunderbirds fell Saturday night to the #3 Highland Scotties, 87-79, in the third place game of the NJCAA National Tournament at Pioneer Pavillion.

For the Thunderbirds, they finish the season as the fourth best team in the country, recording a 28-8 overall record, falling just one win short as the highest winning women's basketball team in school history.

Though the lady T-Birds trailed early on, they showed heart, grit and determination, refusing to quit late.  Mesa scored 34 points alone in the fourth quarter, getting within three points of Highland's lead, which at one point was as high as 27 points with seven minutes left in the third quarter.

Anessa Glenn recorded a season high 21 points and tied a career high in blocks with three.  Cheyenne Begay recorded a career high in points with 20, connecting on 3-6 three-pointers and hitting 5-6 free-throws while also recorded a career in rebounds with seven.
