Big Cochise 3rd Quarter Sinks #6 Mesa, 65-61

Mesa, AZ - A #8 Cochise Apaches 27 point third quarter proved to be too much for the #6 Mesa Thunderbirds in the end as the T-Birds fall, 65-61.

Riding a 10 game winning streak into tonight's game, Mesa's last defeat came at the hands of the Apaches, but down at Cochise last time.

Mesa held to a 32-27 halftime lead, one of many leads the T-Birds maintain throughout the first half.  But a tough third quarter for Mesa doomed any chances of victory, as the T-Birds had seven turnovers in the quarter and shot only 4-12 from the field.

Overall on the night, the T-Birds shot 32 percent (22-67) from the field while connecting on 11-13 free-throws.  Takara Wade and Leah Goodman each scored 14 points for Mesa, both high scorers from each team.  Diamond Fuller had 12 points and seven rebounds while Anessa Glenn scored 11 points.

Mesa will head to Tucson on Saturday for a match up with the Pima Aztecs at 2 pm.
