Mesa, AZ - It was quite the performance for Mesa sophomore point guard Takara Wade as she was just two assists shy of earning a triple-double Saturday afternoon that helped the T-Birds defeat the Glendale Gauchos, 66-55.
Wade finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. The 14 rebounds tied Wade's career high while also tying her career high in assists with eight.
Also having a solid performance for the T-Birds was power forward Anessa Glenn. Glenn also finished with a double-double, with 14 points and 13 rebounds. For Glenn, she set a new personal best in rebounds for a game, as she previously had two games with 12 rebounds.
Mesa dominated the points in the paint as they outscored the Gauchos 32-14. The T-Birds on the afternoon shot 36.8 percent (25-68) while connecting on four three-pointers.
Other double-point scorers for the T-Birds were Leah Goodman and Deja Dagons, each tallying 10 points.
Mesa is now 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the ACCAC. The T-Birds will be on the road the next two games, first on Wednesday night at Arizona Western then next Saturday night down at Tohono O'odham, both 5:30 pm tip offs.
