Women's Basketball Sign Lynnae Mitchell, Treanna Frazier for 2017-2018 Season

Fresh off a NJCAA DII Tournament appereance, the Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team have signed two players for the 2017-2018 season.

Lynnae Mitchell (guard): A team captain her senior year, she helped lead the Winslow Bulldogs to the 2017 AZ State 3A basketball tournament where they advanced past North Pointe Prep in the first round but lost to Holbrook in the 2nd. Winslow completed the season with a 19-12 record.
During her senior season her averages were:  

9.6 ppg
7.4 apg
3.4 rpg
2.1 spg

We learned about Lynnae from former Thunderbird Briana Clah (currently attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO) who has been a big sister and mentor to Lynnae, having played on the same Lady Magic club team for a few years together.  

Lynnae has a great work ethic, she is very motivated to get a college degree, and wants to use basketball as a means to do so. She brings a genuinely friendly personality to our program but is also a very competitive player who wants to contribute immediately. She sees the floor well and can shoot the long ball. While she is looking forward to improving her overall skills and understanding of the game against bigger, faster, and stronger players she is also very happy to become part of the Thunderbird family.  

When asked about why she decided to come to Mesa her response was, "Why not Mesa? I chose Mesa because I feel it fits me right with family. Coach Sam talked to me about the program being family orientated and that's what makes a team. Also my family can still travel to watch me play. I'm excited!"

Treanna Frazier is from the class of 2016, who sat out this season but began attending MCC in Jan 2017.  

She's a great kid, an intelligent and hardworking player, and her maturity will help her excel and contribute from the start.  Treanna is really excited about the opportunity to be part of the Thunderbird family because she comes from a close family herself who will be nearby and get to see her continue playing. She has also played with many of the returning players and feels that working and competing with them is the right thing to do at this point in her life.  

Finally, she said, "I really like coach Kori and feel she can help me develop as a player and get prepared to play at the next level."
