Women's basketball breezes past Coyotes, 88-37

Mesa, AZ- After a tough loss down in Coolidge Wednesday, it was nice for the women's basketball team to get back to their winning ways against Chandler-Gilbert Saturday afternoon with an 88-37 victory.

Four T-Birds finished in double figures for points, led by Lacey Viselli(So., Suprise, AZ, Valley Vista H.S.) who had 13 points and seven steals.  Erica Vasquez(So., Mesa, AZ, Red Mountain H.S.) Taylor Reed(Fr., Kingman, AZ, Kingman H.S.) and Kylie Herd(So., Phoenix, AZ, Arcadia H.S.) all finished with 11 points.

Chandler-Gilbert scored the first bucket of the game but that was the only lead they had the rest of the game as Mesa dominated the zone defense that the Coyotes played. 

Herd scored 10 of her 11 points in the first half while pulling down six rebounds.  Mesa out rebounded Chandler-Gilbert 25-8 in the half with Mesa scoring 18 points in the paint.

Rebecca Rudd(So., Gilbert, AZ, Highland H.S.) finished with eight points and six rebounds for the T-Birds while Cherokee Davis(Fr., Fort McDowell, AZ, Mountain View H.S.) finished with eight points.

Mesa moves to 11-5 this season, 6-3 in the ACCAC.  Mesa will head to Eastern Arizona this coming Wednesday to face off against the top seed in the ACCAC which will be audio broadcast only on T-Bird Sports Live then down to Tohono O'odham next Saturday.
