Young, Naisant easily win regional multi-event titles
Mesa, AZ – Reese Young and Marcus Naisant kicked off the Region I Track and Field Championships by easily capturing the heptathlon and decathlon respectively Monday and Tuesday at John D. Riggs Stadium.
Young won six of the seven events for the women, posting a score of 4456 to win by more than 550 points.
Naisant won by nearly 1,200 points over teammate Juba McClay. He had taken nine straight events until placing third in the concluding 1.500 meters.
Both Young and Naisant will move on to the NJCAA Division I National Championships which will be held May 16-18 in Hobbs, N.M.
The rest of the regional meet will be competed April 30 and May 2 at John D. Riggs Stadium.
