Tornado threats postponed many events in NJCAA track and field championships Friday

 Hutchinson, Kan. – It was an abbreviated schedule for the NJCAA Division I Track and Field Championships Friday as the threat of tornados caused many of the events to be postponed until Saturday.

  In the women's action that did take place, Onnika Scott, who won the hammer throw national championship Thursday took tenth place in the shot put with a toss of 40-10 ½.

  Catherine Bryant improved from 14th place on the first day of the heptathlon to tenth in the final standings with 4,084 points.

  For the MCC men, Cameron Lewis placed 14th in the shot put at 46-6 ¼.

  The 4x100 meter relay team did not qualify for the finals, placing 15th in the preliminaries in 41.46.

  There will be a condensed schedule Saturday to conclude the meet.
