12 Earn NJCAA National Qualifiers for Mesa Indoor Track & Field
Mesa, AZ – The Mesa track and field teams have begun their indoor seasons by producing 12 NJCAA national qualifiers in their first two meets, with a host more likely on the horizon.
MCC competed in the Puma Indoor and PVCC Indoor over the last two weekends.
On the women's side, All-American Allyson Girard is already set for nationals in two events. She has posted a 5:18.88 clocking in the mile and ran a 10:16.94 3000-meters. Samantha Miller will join her in the 3,000 with a time of 10:49.76.
The T-Birds already have four qualifiers in the pole vault. All-American Calla Reed (11-11 ¾), Ally Keil (10-6), Angel Justice (10-6) and Alexandra Cochran (10-0) have all met the qualifying standard.
For the men, the pole vault is again the strong suit with three qualifiers. Kasey Bingham (16-8 3/4), Riley Korcuska (14-11) and Eric Cochran (14-3 ¼) have all joined the list.
Niklas Hale-Mercer has a 52-2 ¾ shot put mark to his credit, good enough for a trip to Pittsburg, Kan., site of the indoor nationals March 3-4.
This weekend Mesa will compete in the Pima Indoor in Tucson.
