Bio

Having just completed his eighth year, former Mesa and Southern Mississippi assistant coach Grady Moorhead is the head softball coach at Mesa Community College.

He is a native of Cave Creek, AZ, and an Arizona State University graduate. He also graduated from Cactus Shadows H.S., in Cave Creek in 2001.

He assisted at Mesa from 2009-11, a very successful period for the T-Birds. In 2010 they went 42-22 and were the Region I, Division II runners-up. While at MCC he was the assistant hitting and offensive coach, catching coach and assistant recruiting coordinator among numerous duties.

All four of the catchers he worked with moved on to four-year scholarship opportunities and he helped develop two All-Americans, along with five all-conference and all-region players.

He draws high praise from some of his former players.

"Coach Moorhead has been one of the best coaches I have ever had," says MCC All-American Tiffanee Frampton. "He not only taught me lessons about softball but also about life. Coach Grady helped me most with the mental aspect of the game the two years I played for him."

He was also a camp director for all MCC skills camps and served as a volunteer coach for the East Valley Pride Softball Organization. In addition, he was an adjunct faculty member in the Exercise Science Department as well as a Student Service Representative in the cashier's office.

Moorhead was assistant coach at Southern Mississippi for three years. Among his duties were serving as hitting and offensive coach, recruiting coordinator and opponent scouting coordinator, among others.
