10-2 (5), 11-5 Finals as Mesa Softball Sweeps Scottsdale

Scottsdale, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team swept another ACCAC opponent Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Scottsdale Artichokes, 10-2 in five innings and 11-5 in game two.

Mesa has now won seven straight games and has swept its last three double-headers, all three teams being ACCAC DII opponents.

Contributing to a majority of Mesa's runs on the day was Taylor Brown, who scorched a three-run homerun in game one while knocking in two more runs in game two.  Brown also pitched the first two innings of game two, allowing two runs and striking out two.

Denah Pruehs also had a solid day at the plate as she went 5-9 on the day with two doubles.

Kacey Williams pitched a complete game four hitter in game one, striking out four in the process.  Jadin Placencio finished game two, striking out eight, allowing three runs, two earned.

With the two victories, Mesa is now 15-5 overall and 9-5 in conference play.  The T-Birds will be on the road this coming Saturday afternoon at Arizona Western.
