T-Bird Softball Splits Double-Header with Eastern AZ, 4-5, 13-5 (6) Finals

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team split a double-header with the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters Saturday afternoon, 4-5 and 13-5 (6) finals.

The T-Birds collected 15 total hits in game two with Alyssa Matus collecting two hits, knocking in three runs while scoring three times herself.  Ashley Portugal had three hits and three RBI's as well.

In the circle getting the win for game two was Abril Nerey who threw five innings and gave up only one earned run.

Mesa is now 9-5 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.  The T-Birds will play a double-header at home Tuesday vs Paradise Valley, first pitch at 1 pm.
