4-3, 3-2 Wins for Mesa Softball Saturday Against Paradise Valley

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team had a solid day on the diamond as they defeated the Paradise Valley Pumas twice, 4-3, 3-2.

For the season, the T-Birds did a clean four game sweep of the Pumas, defeated PV twice earlier in the season.

Game one saw the T-Birds get two runs in the third inning and two runs in the eighth for a walk-off victory.  Jaden Encinas singled and eventually scored on an Ieleen Guardado single.  Samantha Quezada, who reached base by hit by pitch, would also score on Guardado's hit because of a throwing error by the Puma right fielder.

In the eighth inning, Mesa trailed 3-2, and with Sammy Quezada on second to begin the inning, Guardado doubled to score Quezada to tie the game at three.  Brittany Walkingstick then drew a walk and she was eventually knocked in by Jaden McDaniel to win the game, 4-3.

Jadin Placencio earned the win for Mesa, allowing six hits in eight innings, striking out nine in the process.

In game two, Mesa used the walk to score all three of its runs.  All three runs scored were put on base by way of the walk and were scored by singles.  Jaden Encinas walked to start off the bottom of the first inning and scored on a Brittany Walkingstick single.

Ieleen Guardado and Walkingstick then drew back-to-back walks in the third inning and they eventually scored on a single by Jaden McDaniel.  That single pushed Mesa's lead at that point to 3-0.

The Pumas scored two runs in the top of the seventh but that's all the runs Alyssa Matus would allow.  Matus allowed eight hits, two runs while striking out three, earning her fourth win of the season.
