Mesa, AZ - For the first time in five years, the Mesa Thunderbirds softball team has defeated the Phoenix College Bears in game two of a double-header Tuesday afternoon. The Bears won game one, 11-4 while the T-Birds took game two, 4-1.
In game two's victory, it was Sammy Quezada who allowed just six hits, four strikeouts and gave up one run, not earned. At the plate, Quezada helped herself with two RBI's.
Also coming up big for Mesa at the plate was Kelsey Cook, who was 3-3 with an RBI. Two of her hits went for doubles.
Mesa is 12-8 overall and 8-8 in conference play. The T-Birds will play down at Arizona Western on Saturday for a double-header that will begin at noon.
