T-Birds Take Two at Gateway, 13-3 (5), 13-3

Phoenix, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team kept up their winnings ways Saturday afternoon at Gateway, taking both games with a score of 13-3.

The T-Birds once again just kept the line moving, collecting 35 total hits on the day while also walking eight times.  Mesa had 15 hits go for extra bases while getting homeruns from Ryan Holmes, Amber Saiz and Megan Campbell.  For Holmes, that is her fourth dinger of the season and for Saiz and Cambpell, their first.

In the circle for game one, Gaby Lopez pitched a solid five inning performance.  Lopez allowed five hits and three runs while striking out five and not allowing any walks.  She moved her record to 5-0 on the young season.

For game two, Mesa looked to Jordan McClellan, who delivered a strong seven inning win for the T-Birds.  McClellan allowed seven hits, three runs and struck out three, earning her first victory of the season.

At the dish, Amber Saiz opened the game with a leadoff homer.  On the day as a whole, Ryan Holmes was 7-9 with eight RBI's, four runs, a double, two triples and a homerun.  Bailee Snyder was 4-8 with two runs, one RBI and two triples while Sammy Quezada was 4-7 with two runs, two RBI's and two doubles.

Mesa is now 6-0 on the season and 4-0 in the ACCAC.  They will travel to Tucson on Tuesday for a double-header with Pima at 1 and 3 pm then will be back home next Saturday for a double-header with Chandler-Gilbert at noon and 2 pm.
