Three in seventh lifts softball to split with Spokane

  MESA, AZ - Scoring three times in the seventh inning, Mesa rallied for a 9-8 win over Spokane to earn a split of a doubleheader Thursday. The Big Foot won the first game, 13-2.

  A base hit by Korynn Molina (Fr., Tempe, AZ/Marcos de Niza H.S.) scored Alina Lopez (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) with the winner to cap the rally.

  The inning began with a single by Keileen Padilla (Fr., Flagstaff, AZ/Flagstaff H.S.) and a double by Meggan Horn (So. Flagstaff, AZ/Coconino H.S.). After an out, Alyssa Gallegos (Fr., Yuma, AZ/Cibola H.S.) pinch hit a single, Lopez followed with a walk and Amber Smith (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mesa H.S.) and Bridget Kruck (So., Lynden, Wash/Lynden Christian H.S.) both added hits leading up to the winner.

  Padilla and Mercado each had two hits and Horn produced three RBIs.

  In the opener, Kayla Bradford (Fr., St. David, AZ/St. David H.S.) was 2-3 with an RBI.

  The T-Birds host Division I Yavapai Saturday beginning at noon.
