Tennis teams sweep Paradise Valley

  The Mesa tennis teams swept their ACCAC matches against Paradise Valley Tuesday, the men winning, 9-0, and the women, 6-3.

  The 12th-ranked men, playing on the road, took all matches in straight sets with two singles matches ending, 6-0, 6-0. Jorge Sala, ranked 32nd in the nation in singles, took the No. 1 match and Jeff Martin, playing at No. 6, also blanked his opponent.

  In addition, 11th-ranked Gergo Rendek won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1, as did Lucas Severo at No. 5 singles.

  Yohann Prinsen captured the No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-0.

  The 13th-ranked doubles team of Rendek and Martin was victorious, 8-1.

  The MCC women won all five singles matches that were played and took the No. 1 doubles match. 

  Sala Yoshida took the No. 1 singles match when, after winning the first set 6-3 her opponent defaulted in the second. 

  In addition, No. 2 Cidney Anders and No. 3 Stephanie Alsman were winners in their matches by the identical straight set scores of 6-2, 7-5.

  Both teams host Pima Thursday at 1 p.m.
