Men's tennis takes 8-1 win over Glendale
Mesa, AZ – Returning to conference action for the first time in two weeks, the seventh-ranked Mesa men's tennis team took an 8-1 win over Glendale Thursday. The win improves MCC to 7-3 on the year and 3-0 in ACCAC play. All three losses have come to either NCAA Division I or II schools.
The T-Birds lost only a total of nine games, but had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match due to injury.
"We defaulted the #6 spot because of an injury and we didn't want to make it worse," explained head coach Adam Cohen.
Linus Holthey, ranked No. 31 in the nation, took a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles over Bryan Castanon. Fourteenth-ranked David Felix defeated Matthew Pascal, 6-0, 4-1, at No. 1 singles when Pascal had to retire with an injury. Noel Maurin won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles over Nathan Sallim.
In doubles, Matt Fisher and Felix teamed for a No. 2 win over Andrew Arnold an Castanon, 8-0.
MCC will host Paradise Valley Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
