Jesus Garcia's Golden Goal Lifts Mesa Soccer in 2nd Overtime, 1-0

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds must enjoy the theatrics of winning in overtime as they defeated the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes, 1-0, in the second overtime Tuesday night.

Coming off two huge victories last week over then #3 Phoenix College and then #20 Yavapai College, also a win in double-overtime, Mesa needed 102 minutes to notch a win against a stingy Coyote soccer club.  The T-Birds are 2-0-1 in overtime matches this season.

Mesa was looking for a bit of pay back, as the Coyotes easily defeated the T-Birds 6-1, just one short month ago down at Chandler-Gilbert.

Scoring the lone goal for the T-Birds was Jesus Garcia, who knocked it in when the Coyote goalkeeper got caught in no man's land, leaving the net wide open for Garcia.

The T-Birds are now 9-5-2 on the season and in conference play.  They will play on the road this Thursday at South Mountain at 1 pm.
