MESA, AZ - Pima defeated Mesa in men's soccer Thursday at John D. Riggs Stadium, scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes, but MCC still has a strong possibilty of earning a Region I playoff berth.
Max Schmitt (Fr., Cancun, Mexico/Corona del Sol (AZ) H.S.) put MCC on the board quickly in the second half after the Aztecs had built a 3-0 halftime lead, but it wasn't enough for the T-Birds who fell to 10-9 on the year.
Pima now has a 14-4-1 record.
Mesa can clinch a Region I playoff berth with a win in its final game, Saturday at Paradise Valley, or with a Chandler-Gilbert loss at No. 1-ranked Yavapai on the road Saturday.
