MESA, AZ - For the second straight time Mesa and 13th-ranked Phoenix played a 1-0 contest, but this time it was the Bears that came out on top in an ACCAC contest at John D. Riggs Stadium Thursday.
Nick Semintendi scored in the 42nd minute on an assist from Yabin Cruz, and that was all it took for PC to improve its record to 11-4.
Mesa is now 9-7 and still has a lead over Arizona Western for the sixth spot in the Region I playoffs. The Matadors entered Thursday play with a 6-7-1 record.
MCC has a week off before it travels to 11th-ranked Glendale Oct. 16.
