MESA, AZ - Chandler-Gilbert scored two first half goals and made them strand up in a 2-1 win over Mesa in men's soccer Thursday night.

The loss drops the T-Birds to 5-3 on the year heading into a big Saturday match-up in Tucson with Pima. That game will be played at the Kino Sports Complex North Stadium at 4:30 p.m.

The Coyotes got on the board early as Nathan Rice took advantage of some defensive confusion and scored in the ninth minute.

Just 14 minutes before halftime CGCC's Connor Follett connected on a rebound off MCC goalkeeper Carlos Becerra (Fr.,Mesa, AZ/Skyline H.S.) to go into the break leading 2-0.

Mesa countered quickly in the second half as Marlon Bonilla (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Dobson H.S.) tallied on a pass from Bryan Perea (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mesa H.S.) barely more than five minutes in. It was Bonilla's third goal of the season, all coming in the last four games.

MCC, however, was unable to net the equalizer and fell to Chandler-Gilbert, which is now 4-3-1.
