Men's golf clings to second place at regional; Eatherton second individually
Gold Canyon, AZ – Hoping to secure a spot in the NJCAA Division II men's golf national championship, the Mesa men clung to a three-shot advantage over Scottsdale for second place at the Region I tournament Saturday.
MCC has a 289-294-304—887 total through three rounds, just ahead of the Artichokes, but 36 behind South Mountain. The top two teams will advance to the national tournament in Plymouth, Ind., in late May.
Meanwhile, Logan Eartherton carded his third straight one-over-par 71 to take sole possession of second place individually with a 213 total. Bosse Lennsen, who had been tied with Eatherton for third place after 36 holes, slipped to a 79 Saturday and into a tie for eighth place at 221. Dylan Middlemiss, who was second after the first day of play, is now seventh at 220.
The tournament concludes Sunday.
