Men's golf third after Monster Shootout day one

  Thatcher, AZ – The Mesa men's golf team held third place Monday after the first day of the Monster Shootout at the Mt. Graham G.C.

  Austin Hardman shot a one-under-par 71 to lead MCC which carded a team 296. South Mountain led the way with a 273 and host Eastern Arizona was second at 279.

  Hardman was tied for seventh place, but the T-Birds' next two on the leaderboard were Ryan Porter and Zane Smith who shot one-over par 73s to tie for 18th place. Brad Pottle carded a 79 to tie for 31st place and Jake Aboud and Jake Guess were both tied for 35th place with 80s.

  The tournament ends Tuesday.
