Mesa places fifth in the nation in annual NATYCAA Cup among over 400 schools
Mesa, AZ – For the third time in the last four years the Mesa athletic program has placed among the top six in the nation in the annual National Alliance of Two-Year Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup scholarship division.
MCC took fifth place in the 2016-17 rankings which are compiled on a points system based upon success at NJCAA national championship events. There are more than 400 schools in the scholarship division.
T-Bird teams competed at the national level in 12 sports and won the national championship in men's golf for the first time. It was the 19th total national title in school history. MCC has won titles in nine different sports.
A year ago Mesa was sixth while in 2013-14 MCC placed fourth with both the women's basketball and baseball teams winning national titles.
Mesa won the Cup in 2004-05 and has never finished lower than 21st since its inception in 2003-04, although results for two early years are missing.
