Tournament results

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Unable to keep up with South Mountain, the Mesa men's golf team saw a first round tie slip away and finished second at the Paradise Valley Invitational Tuesday at the Gainey Ranch G.C.

SMCC shot an 11-under-par 277 to close with a 563 total, while MCC was at three-under 285 and carded a 571 tournament total.

"We made too many big numbers on our back nine today to win this tournament," said head coach John Guerrero.
Hopefully we can eliminate that at regionals next week."

Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) tied for second individually with a 71-69--149. T.J. Katherineberg (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge H.S.) tied for fourth at 71-72--143 and Brandon Carlson (So., Gilbert, AZ/Perry H.S.) tied for sixth at 71-73--144.

Mesa's next action will come at the Region I Championship which begins April 23 at the Gold Canyon Resort G.C.
