Men's golf second after Glendale Invitational day one

  SUN CITY, AZ - THe Mesa men's golf team stood in second place, four shots behind leader South Mountain, after the first day of play at the Glendale Invitational Thursday.

  MCC shot a two-under-par 286 at the Sun City G.C., led by Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (AZ) H.S.) who fired a three-under-par 69. That is two shots behind tournament leader John Souza, of South Mountain, who recorded a 67.

  Brandon Carlson (So., Gilbert, AZ/Perry H.S.) and Alex Lobeck (So., Mandan, N.D/Perry (AZ) H.S.) each shot a par 72 for the T-Birds while Tyler Katherineberg (Fr., Mesa, AZ) had a 73, Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) was at 74 and Bryce Melville (Fr., Morinville, Alberta/Sturgeon H.S.) recorded a 76.

  The event concludes Friday.
