Mesa, AZ - A last second four point play propels the Mesa Thunderbirds over the Central Arizona Vaqueros Saturday night, 61-60.
Jok Jok, with ice in his veins, drained a three pointer with 6.1 seconds left on the clock with Mesa down at the time, 60-57. Jok Jok was fouled on the play and the sophomore completed the "and 1" to put Mesa ahead, 61-60. The last time Mesa held a lead in the game was at the 8:23 mark of the first half.
Twice during the second half, Mesa was eyeballing a 13 point deficit. But toughening up on defense proved the difference as Mesa kept chipping away at the lead on offense.
Jok Jok finished with a team high 17 points while BJ Burries finished with 14 points and Rajhan Billingsley tallied 10.
Mesa moves to 4-2 on the season with a 2-0 conference record. The T-Birds will play at Phoenix College on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm.
