Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds men's basketball team secured its first win of the 2019-2020 season with an 89-72 victory over the Palo Verde Pirates Saturday night.
Leading the way with 22 points and nine rebounds was Rajhan Billingsley, who shot 7-13 from the field. Also scoring in double-digits was Jok Jok with 15, Cameron Burist with 14, and BJ Burries with 12.
On the night, Mesa shot 44.6 percent (29-65) from the field while connecting on 72.2 percent (26-36) from the free-throw line.
With their first win, Mesa is 1-1 on the young season. Mesa won't be back in action for a full week when they play East Los Angeles next Saturday afternoon at 4 pm at Theo Heap Gym.
