Mesa Completes 2nd Half Comeback with Big Win Over Cochise, 92-81

Mesa, AZ - Down by 10 at halftime, the Mesa Thunderbirds battled back and defeated the Cochise Apaches, 92-81, at Theo Heap Gym Wednesday night.

Not only were the T-Birds down by 10 at half but they trailed by as much as 15 at one point during the second half.  That didn't derail the T-Birds at all as they shot 64 percent (16-25) in the second half to upend the Apaches.

Five T-Birds scored in double-digits, leading the way was Mikel Beyers, who finished with 17 points.  He finished 7-7 shooting and 3-3 from three-pointer.  Right behind him was Sindou Diallo who had 15 points and seven rebounds, Ramon Franklin had 14 points, Adonis Arms had 13 points and five assists while Malique Washington had 11 points and five assists.

It was a much different story tonight that Mesa wrote in the second half compared to down in Douglas just a month ago.  Mesa was only down six at halftime but only scored 29 points in the second half to fall to the Apaches, 85-68.  Tonight was a different story as the T-Birds outscored Cochise 57-36.

Mesa and Cochise are now currently tied the ACCAC DI standings with 13-7 records.  Depending on how the final two games of the season shake out with determine the final pairings in the ACCAC DI tournament that begins in March.

The T-Birds will play down in Tucson at Pima on Saturday at 4 pm then will have its regular season finale at home against Phoenix College next Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
