Men's Basketball Travels to Cochise for ACCAC DI Playoff Showdown Saturday Night

It has been a roller coaster season for the Mesa Thunderbirds men's basketball team.  The T-Birds began the season 8-0 and it looked as though Mesa was the team to beat in the ACCAC.

But a tough Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout, only winning on the final day against Benedictine JV, a couple of starting lineup changes and a string of January conference loses made it difficult to tell what the rest of the season had in store for the T-Birds.

Four overtime games highlighted February's schedule for Mesa, winning two of those four games, plus winning their final two games of the season, both against ACCAC playoff teams.

With an impressive win at Phoenix College to finalize the regular season, 89-69, it showed what kind of team Mesa could be showcasing in Douglas Saturday night.

The T-Birds will be facing an Apache squad that went 24-6 overall on the season, with two of those wins coming against Mesa.  Cochise holds the upper hand when it comes to home court advantage as well, not losing to the T-Birds at home since the 2013-2014 season.

The final game at Cochise was a 93-90 overtime barn burner, with Cochise getting the win.  Mesa however wasn't playing with Second Team All-Region and All-ACCAC player Jamil Wilson-Jones.
