Artichokes Sink T-Birds in OT Thriller, 82-81

Mesa, AZ - Throughout Saturday night's matchup with Scottsdale, Mesa seemed to be constantly playing catchup.  Though the T-Birds forced overtime, they fell to the Artichokes, 82-81.

The T-Birds did have one last chance at victory in the overtime and with four seconds to play, Jamil Wilson-Jones drove the length of the court, spinning into the paint to attempt the buzzer beater.  However, Wilson-Jones was whistled for a traveling violation and Scottsdale gain possession with just one second on the clock.

It was a tough call to end Mesa's chances for victory but the T-Birds showed a never say die attitude, especially in the second half.

Being down by as much as 16 points with about eight minutes to play in the second half, Mesa rallied behind big three pointers from Brent Kimbrel, layups by Bryce Cheney and Michael Vos-Otin and free throws from Adonis Arms.

Mesa had a two point advantage with under 10 seconds to play in the OT but an Artichoke three sealed the deal for Scottsdale with four seconds to play.

Adonis Arms finished with a team high 20 points with eight rebounds while Noe Anabir had 14 points, nine rebounds.  Michael Vos-Otin finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

One of the major differences in the game was Scottsdale's three point shooting.  They connected on 17-32 three pointers, nine of which came in the second half and OT.

The T-Birds are now 16-10 overall with an 11-8 conference record.  The road doesn't get any easier for Mesa as they travel down to Douglas, AZ on Wednesday to play Cochise, then have a Saturday matchup at home against Pima.
