Men's Basketball Opens Season at Home Against 3 Kings Prep at 7:30 pm

The Mesa Thunderbirds men's basketball team will begin its 2016-2017 season at home tonight against 3 Kings Prep at 7:30 p.m.

Mesa is looking for another playoff run in the DI ACCAC for the fourth straight season.  The T-Birds made it to the semi-final round last season and if they plan on another playoff push, they'll look to nine new freshman.  But Mesa's experienced players like Obi Megwa and Ed Hardt look to provide steady leadership throughout the season.

Megwa earned All-ACCAC Second Team (DI) and All-Region Second Team (DI) in his freshman season at Mesa.  Megwa averaged 14.8 points a game while averaging 4.2 rebounds a game.  Megwa broke into the starting lineup from the get go and led the Mesa offense throughout the season.

In the paint, Hardt will anchor the T-Birds.  Hardt played in 28 games last season, starting eight of those games while averaging 5.1 points per game.
