Men's Basketball Win Back and Forth Battle With Central Arizona, 70-67

Mesa, AZ- In a game that saw nine lead changes and four ties, it was the Mesa Thunderbirds that outlasted the Central Arizona Vaqueros, 70-67.

Mesa grabbed the lead in the first minute of the game, holding onto to it for most of the half.  At the 4:36 mark of the half, Mesa took a 29-21 lead on a Kyle Bingham layup and freethrow.  Bingham on the night finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Central Arizona though turned things around in the last four minutes, going on a 12-2 and taking a 33-31 lead into halftime.

In the second half, both teams went back and forth, matching shot for shot.  At the eight minute mark, Central tied the game at 52 with a jumpshot.  But from there on out, Mesa regained the lead and didn't reliquish it.  Mesa only led by at most five points in the last eight minutes but they continued to make free throws when they needed.

Mesa will be on the road on Saturday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert at 4 p.m.
